Placement and Placing out of the Language Requirement

1. For those who are native/near-native speakers of Japanese, and wish to place out of the language requirement, please make an appointment with Hiroko Kimura Sherry<hsherry@sas.upenn.edu>. Note that placing out of the language requirement does not mean that you satisfy four course credits, but rather that you free those course credits for other courses.

Which beginning Japanese course should you take?

Let's say you have no or nearly no prior knowledge of Japanese.

If you want to use Japanese for the language requirement, or you want to major or minor in Japanese, choose between

1. JPAN021/022 and   2. JPAN011/012.
